Verdict: 4/5⭐️ - *English* I had always heard of this writer, but never read anything of him. Until a new book hit the shelves (Holly), I thought I'd get started! And all the positive reactions and reviews about this author are completely justified, what a book! And then I have only read 1 of all the books.
The characters of the book are very fascinating. The main character is not even in the police force (anymore), which gives you a different view of the story. The characters besides the main character are all of a different age category, which makes the story exciting. That also makes the story very interesting. Furthermore, it is very interesting that you also get the point of view of the perpetrator and how he thinks about life and why he became this way.
The setting of the story is set in America instead of the UK for once. And the ending is also very well thought out and very BIG!
The writing style of this book is thrilling right from the start, making you want to read everything right away. The smaller chapters in a thick book makes it easier for me to get through a thick book and I really liked that.
I thought there wasn't really a plot twist and that the book as a whole was just very exciting from start to finish.
The way the relationships and intrigues are written in this book are very good. How the main character and the perpetrator revolve around each other and drive each other crazy is a very good and exciting story. It makes it dramatic and thrilling at the same time.
I enjoyed this book very much. If there was a movie of this book, I would definitely go see it. I would like to read more Stephen King books. And I will definitely do that next month!
*Dutch* Ik had altijd al gehoord van deze schrijver alleen nog nooit iets gelezen van hem. Tot dat er een nieuw boek in de winkels kwam te liggen, dacht ik laat ik er toch maar eens aan beginnen! En alle lovende reacties en reviews over deze schrijver zijn helemaal terecht wat een boek! En dan heb ik er nog maar 1 gelezen van alle boeken.
De karakters van het boek zijn erg fascinerend. De hoofdpersoon zit niet eens (meer) bij de politie waardoor je toch een andere kijk op het verhaal hebt. De karakters naast de hoofdpersoon zijn allemaal van een andere leeftijds categorie dat het enerverend is in het verhaal. Dat maakt het verhaal ook heel interessant. Verder is het erg interessant dat je ook de point of view van de dader krijgt en hoe hij over het leven denkt en waarom hij zo is geworden.
De setting van het verhaal wordt een keer in Amerika afgespeeld in plaats van de UK. En het einde ook groots eindigt is erg goed bedacht.
De schrijfstijl van dit boek is gelijk in het begin spannend gemaakt waardoor je gelijk alles wilt lezen. De kleinere hoofdstukken in een dik boek maakt het voor mij makkelijker om door een dik boek heen te komen en dat vond ik heel fijn.
Ik vond dat er niet echt een plottwist is en dat het boek in zijn geheel gewoon erg spannend is van begin tot einde.
Hoe de relaties en intrigues in dit boek zijn geschreven is erg goed. Hoe de hoofdpersoon en de dader om elkaar heen draaien en elkaar gek maken is een erg goed en spannend verhaal. Het maakt het dramatisch en spannend tegelijkertijd.
Ik heb erg genoten van dit boek. Als er een film overgemaakt zou worden zou ik er zeker naar toe gaan. Ik zou graag nog meer boeken van Stephen King willen lezen. En dat ga ik ook zeker doen eerst volgende maand!

*Story* In the predawn hours, in a distressed American city, hundreds of unemployed men and women line up for the opening of a job fair. They are tired and cold and desperate.
